CONCLUDING REMARKS
Charles B. Doleac:
It's 4:00, and time for the forum to end. We should end on this note. At this point it is apparently difficult for the American government to be officially involved in mediating differences between Russia and Japan. However, it is appropriate for unofficial discussions such as this forum to continue in the Portsmouth Peace Treaty spirit with unofficial local hosts in Portsmouth such as the Japan-America Society of New Hampshire to explore possible solutions, and to continue the dialogue between Russia and Japan so that solutions can be developed. We deeply thank the official representatives of both governments for being here for the first time since 1905 to express their points of view. This dialogue will continue in subsequent forums.
